Accessibility
This translation is provided for convenience. Only the German version is legally binding. German original: Barrierefreiheit.
Accessibility information under § 14 and Annex 3 of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG).
1. The service
EZ Poker at https://poker.techspace.de (also reachable at https://ez-poker.apps.01.cf.eu01.stackit.cloud) is a free tool from Techspace Software GmbH for agile estimation in the web browser. Whoever creates a room gets a link; whoever opens the link takes a seat at the table under a random animal name and picks a card (½, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13 or 21). After the reveal, everyone in the room sees the cards and how they are distributed. There are no user accounts, no text input and no payments. The interface is in English. The legal texts are in German; the privacy policy, the terms of use and this page are also available as English reading versions.
2. Applicable requirements
The yardstick is the accessibility requirements for services in electronic commerce under the BFSG and the ordinance implementing it (BFSGV). To meet them we follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, to which the harmonised standard EN 301 549 refers for web content. The requirements are that content is perceivable, operable, understandable and robust: it must be perceivable through more than one sense, operable with different input methods, clearly understandable and usable with assistive technologies such as screen readers.
3. How the service meets the requirements
- Keyboard: All controls are real buttons or links with a text label. The cards in your hand form a selection group: the arrow keys move between cards, the space bar or the Enter key plays the card. The keyboard focus has a clearly visible outline, on the green table in gold on a dark band. After the reveal the focus moves to “New round”.
- Screen readers: The hand, the seats and the result have accessible names and roles. Each seat states the animal name, whether it is your own, who moderates and whether a card has been played, and after the reveal the card itself. The number of cards played, the result after the reveal, the connection status, notices and the warning before the room ends are announced politely through live regions; the distribution after the reveal is a table with a header row.
- Colours and contrast: Every text reaches a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 : 1 in the light and the dark design, focus outlines and card edges at least 3 : 1. Links in running text are underlined. The connection status shows a word next to the dot on narrow screens too, and the dot changes its shape with the state; colour alone carries no information.
- Time limit: A room ends 4 hours after it was created. A notice says so 10 minutes ahead and again in the last minute, visibly and for screen readers; a new room is one click away.
- Display: Light or dark follows your system setting. The layout adapts to narrow screens down to 320 pixels without horizontal scrolling and is designed for zoom up to 200 %. If your system asks for reduced motion, animations are switched off.
- Language: Every page declares its language (English interface, German legal texts) so that screen readers read it correctly.
- Testing: On 16 October 2026 we checked the start page, all legal pages and the room in its main states (empty, cards played, revealed, dialog, connection lost, warning before the end, expired, not found) automatically against the WCAG 2.1 level A and AA criteria, in the light and the dark design and at 375 and 1280 pixels wide, with no findings. Operating the service with the keyboard alone and the names and announcements for screen readers in the browser's accessibility tree were checked automatically as well. These checks run again with every change. The defects they found (mostly contrast) have been fixed.
4. Known limitations
- A formal assessment against EN 301 549 by an independent body and a test with screen readers by people have not taken place yet. Automated checks find only part of the possible barriers; how well individual screen readers actually read out the announcements is not established by them.
- For data protection reasons, rooms end 4 hours after they were created; this limit can be neither switched off nor extended. The room warns you beforehand (section 3); the warning follows the clock of your device.
- Short notices (such as “Invite link copied” or “A new round was dealt”) disappear after 4 seconds. They are announced to screen readers and mostly repeat what the page shows anyway.
- The interface is available in English only.
5. Reporting barriers
If you come across a barrier, please write to us at info@techspace.de. Tell us which page or function is affected and, if you wish, which assistive technology you use. We will look into it and reply to you.
